Dear Cedar Fort Publishing,
After reading Geek Girl by Cindy C. Bennett and seeing that it was published by Sweetwater Books, an imprint of Cedar Fort, I thought you might be interested in my novel, PORCELAIN KEYS. It is a 94,000-word YA contemporary romance set in the small town of Woodland Park, Colorado.
Aria Kinsley is a friendless seventeen-year-old piano prodigy whose abusive father forbids her from going near a piano. When her new neighbor, Thomas Ashby, discovers her in an old tree house with bruises on her arms, a friendship begins that will change her life. As she gradually lets down her guard, he draws out her secrets, captures her heart, and gives her the courage to defy her father and audition for Juilliard.
But when tragedy strikes and Thomas goes missing, Aria thinks she’s lost the only person who understands her and the only boy she will ever love. On her own, she uses music to transform her lifelong pain into something beautiful. It is not until Thomas reappears, unearthing secrets from both of their pasts, that she must choose to either surrender to the melody in her heart, or drown it out forever.
I have a bachelors degree in Communications from the University of Utah and five published articles in the campus magazine The Century. I am an avid reader of young adult and women’s fiction and an experienced pianist. I’ve enclosed the full manuscript of PORCELAIN KEYS for your consideration.
Thank you for your time, and I look forward to hearing from you soon.
