This query letter resulted in a publishing contract with Shadow Mountain.
I’m so glad I could pitch my idea to you at the conference and have the opportunity to visit with you. Following is my proposal with some of the information we discussed during the pitch. I have attached the full manuscript. I look forward to hearing what you think.
Adrielle Pyper knows how to plan a wedding, and she’s especially great at pleasing bride-zillas. But when her biggest client and best friend is murdered three days before the wedding, Adri’s world falls apart. She moves to the posh resort town of Sun Valley, Idaho and starts from scratch. Thanks to her impeccable taste and unique style, Adri lands two celebrity clients and her business is headed for success, until someone vandalizes the specialty wedding dresses she imported from overseas.
Adri’s always been too busy for love, and now she has a crime to solve, but she’s having trouble ignoring the smoking hot divorce attorney (from the dark side) and a super-shy waiter who kisses like nobody’s business. She’s so caught up in trying to keep her wedding planning business alive, she’d never guess that the man who murdered her best friend has moved to town—and he has his sights on Adri.
In Stephanie Plum meets The Wedding Planner, this story blends mystery, toe-curling kisses, humor, and spine-tingling thrills. DIAMOND RINGS ARE DEADLY THINGS is a romantic suspense novel complete at 89,000 words with potential for a series.
My first novel WRONG NUMBER, (Bonneville Books, March 2010) was awarded Outstanding Book of the Year from the League of Utah Writers and was a Whitney finalist. I’ve also published a nonfiction book, LOST CHILDREN: COPING WITH MISCARRIAGE FOR LATTER DAY SAINTS, (Cedar Fort Inc., May 2010). My second suspense novel, CALLER ID, was released March 2012 (Sweetwater Books, national imprint of CFI). My novella, SILVER CASCADE SECRETS, will be published this fall with A Timeless Romance Anthology by Mirror Press.
Please note that I have received two contract offers with advance for this book and potential series, so time is of the essence. This is a simultaneous submission. If you could please let me know of your interest within thirty days, I would appreciate it. I have attached the full revised manuscript to this email. Thank you so much.
