Dear Sir or Madam,

“Filtered light touched nine-year-old Miriam’s honey-brown skin and she felt a flash of warm sunlight as she crept down a narrow path carved through the thickest part of the forest, following silently behind her young companion.” This sentence introduces Miriam, the main character in the attached manuscript which I have entitled The Birthright, an 84,670 word 295 page inspirational/historical romance geared to a YA audience. Cedar Fort Inc. is currently the only publisher to which I have submitted this manuscript for review.

To write this story, and the other two stories I mentioned, I did considerable research into ancient American life, studying works by Joseph L. Allan, John L. Sorenson, and many other ancient American scholars. Because of this, I believe that The Birthright is a historically plausible and engaging story.

I believe The Birthright is distinctive because it gives life and depth to its characters and setting. The conflicts the characters face create an appealing setting in which readers can immerse themselves, and though the characters are purely fictional, their struggles are such that readers can relate to them, and sympathize with their efforts.

With this cover letter, I have attached the manuscript of The Birthright as well as the synopsis.

Because of the high quality of products that Cedar Fort is known for, I hope that The Birthright meets with your high standards. I look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,

Loralee Evans
