I grew up in Boston. Enough said. Ok…I’m also a writer. A perfectionist. A dad of five. A huge sports fan. A theater aficionado. And a lover of almost everything outdoors. Besides running, I’m also chapter president of Utah Valley Legends. And my BIG dream, of course, is to get to the point where I can write full time for a living.

I’m currently querying THE LACKAWANNA PROPHECIES, a young adult fantasy that finished first place in the unpublished manuscript category for the 2014 Dante Rossetti Awards for Young Adult Novels (under a slightly different title) before  I worked with Rebecca Faith Editorial on my manuscript. And for the record, my experience with Rebecca was fantastic. I’ve had a number of partials and fulls thus far. The waiting game is awesome. Not.

HOPE AND OTHER CURSES, a young adult contemporary fiction piece that has me dreaming of monsters (trust me…that’s a good thing!), is my current work in progress in the editing phase. In addition, I have written first chapters for a YA sci-fi, historical fiction, and adult speculative fiction–all promising stories that I can’t wait to attack.

Writing a novel started out as a bucket list item. I’ve always loved to write, but I didn’t know how much until I began this journey in 2004. I spent close to five years writing my first novel. After finishing that beauty, I got serious about publishing. That’s when I realized I knew nothing about anything when it came to writing and publishing. Yeah. Serious blow.

I started over. I attended writing conferences, I formed a writing group with three talented ladies, two of whom are published, won a few awards, and am now—I certainly hope—on the cusp of finding an agent. There are no guarantees, but I believe in hard work. Life is too short to give up or to not make the most of it.
